We believe today’s Public Education is seriously flawed, destroying our nation’s Liberty
How is Public Education destroying our nation’s Liberty?
1) Parents have all but lost their Constitutional right to educate their children.
- Upon enrolling your child in a government-run public school, the public school assumes the legal right to educate your children to what the local school board deems appropriate, not parents.
- Except for some “religious rights,” parents have no right to determine what their child is taught.
- The Constitutional right to educate one’s children has come to mean, “you also have the right to send your children to a private school.” Yet the majority of American families do not have the financial means to do so.
- Low income families barely have enough financial resources just to survive, often working more than one job.
- 85% of America’s school children are educated in Public Schools, nearly one-half of those would enroll their children in a private school if they had the financial resources to do so.
2) Children are under the influence of government-run public schools, their view of reality is being formed during their most impressionable years.
- What is taught in the classrooms becomes the values and beliefs of the next generation.
3) Students are not sufficiently taught what the founders of this nation believed were crucial to preserving Liberty. Examples such as:
- “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” – John Adams
- “Human rights can only be assured among a virtuous people; reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles.” – George Washington
- “At the most formative period of life, when schools are shaping a child’s understanding of the world, the exclusion of Religion cannot help but shape a world-view where Christianity is unimportant or even false.” – James Hitchcock
